Welcome to the Rutgers University Big Buddy Website!

RU Big Buddy is a Rutgers community service organization that provides positive role models for young New Brunswick children. To accomplish this, Rutgers students volunteer their time to spend three hours per week with their designated “Little Buddy” at the Lincoln Elementary School in New Brunswick. Even though the program takes place in an elementary school, the benefits of Big Buddy go far beyond education. During their time together, “Big Buddies” help their “Little Buddies” with their schoolwork and class activities, while providing their “Little Buddies” with a friendly positive role model. With a touch, a smile, and a kind word, “Big Buddies” strive to form significant, positive relationships with their “Little Buddies”, with the hope that these experiences will give their “Little Buddies” the encouragement they need to succeed as students, and as people. While these relationships provide the immediate benefits of support and encouragement to the “Little Buddies”, they also have lasting positive influences on the “Big Buddy”. The Big Buddy program provides a unique learning experience for “Big Buddies” and supplements their growth as responsible adults. If you are looking for an organization that will give you the opportunity to truly make a difference, then look no more. Big Buddy is the choice for you!
